About the author
PAUL LEROY ROBESON JR. was an American author, historian, archivist, civil rights activist, and Russian translator who served for more than twenty years as his father’s close personal aide. His books include The Undiscovered Paul Robeson, A Black Way of Seeing, and Paul Robeson, Jr. Speaks to America.
In 2008, Robeson was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Swansea University. He held a degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University and was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
Beyond his writing, Robeson amassed a collection of over 50,000 items—including photographs and audio recordings—as archivist of the Paul Robeson and Eslanda Robeson Collection. This archival work underpinned his two-volume biography of his father.
