About the author

AMY SWENSON is a knitting and crochet designer and software engineer whose original pattern label, IndiKnits, was carried in over 100 shops across North America. Her recent books include Sensual Crochet, Not Your Mama’s Felting: The Cool and Creative Way to Get it Together and Not Your Mama’s Crochet: The Cool and Creative Way to Join the Chain Gang.

Swenson co-owned and operated Make One Yarn Studio in Calgary, where she developed patterns designed to fit and flatter through contemporary stylings rooted in traditional stitch patterns, including cabling and lace.

When she’s not writing, Swenson continues to work as a software engineer alongside her design practice. Much of her pattern work draws on traditional techniques reframed for a contemporary sensibility.
