Barbara Bouyet
BARBARA BOUYET is a writer and Akita breed specialist who has focused on the health and welfare of the breed since 1976. She is the author of The Akita: An Owner’s Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet and the multi-volume Akita: Treasure of Japan series.
The first volume of Akita: Treasure of Japan received the Dog Writers Association of America Best Breed Book award in 1992. Bouyet has also served as Science Research Editor for Akita Review and Science and Health Editor for Akita News.
When she’s not writing, Bouyet remains dedicated to the welfare of the Akita breed. Much of her work addresses the health and care of Akitas directly.
Barbara lives in Thousand Oaks, California.
