About the author
BONNIE MUNRO DOANE, RN, BSN, MSN, is an aviculturist and parrot authority with nearly twenty years of experience working with parrots as a pet owner and breeder. Her books include Parrot Training, The Pleasure of Their Company and My Parrot, My Friend: An Owner’s Guide to Parrot Behavior.
Doane has been a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians since 1987 and received federal approval from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to breed Vinaceous and Cuban Amazons and Queen of Bavaria Conures, all endangered species.
When she’s not writing, Doane draws on broad hands-on experience in parrot behavior, husbandry, nutrition, and the breeding and rearing of many parrot species. Much of her work addresses the practical and medical needs of parrots in human care.
