Bruce Roberts

BRUCE STUART ROBERTS was an American photographer and author who co-authored dozens of books on lighthouse photography, including Cape Hatteras: America’s Lighthouse.

Roberts received the "Keeper of the Light" award from the American Lighthouse Foundation. His photographs appeared in Time, Life, and Sports Illustrated, and he served as Director of Photography and Senior Photographer at Southern Living magazine.

When not writing, Roberts co-founded the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society in 1994 alongside his wife Cheryl Shelton-Roberts, an organization devoted to lighthouse preservation. His books reflect that same dedication to documenting American lighthouses.

Roberts was born on February 4, 1930, in Mount Vernon, New York, and died on June 16, 2023. He lived in Morehead City, North Carolina.
