About the author
CHRIS WALKOWICZ was an American dog breeder, AKC judge, and lifelong dog authority who authored or co-authored more than eleven books and over 1,000 articles and columns on dogs. Her books include Choosing a Dog for Dummies, Successful Dog Breeding and The Perfect Match: A Dog Buyer’s Guide.
Walkowicz served as President of the Dog Writers' Association of America and was inducted into the DWAA Hall of Fame. Successful Dog Breeding, co-authored with Dr. Bonnie Wilcox, won the Dog Writers' Association of America Best Book of 1985.
When not writing, Walkowicz showed and bred German Shepherd Dogs from 1965 and added Bearded Collies in 1977, operating under the Walkoway kennel prefix. She was also a licensed AKC judge of Sporting, Working, and Herding breeds.
