Clifford Kapono

CLIFFORD KAPONO is the author of two books on Honolulu history. His books include Remembering Honolulu and Historic Photos of Honolulu.

Kapono’s Historic Photos of Honolulu won the Hawaii Historical Society Preservation Award in 2009. He completed undergraduate work at San Francisco State University, graduate school at Tuck at Dartmouth College, and post-graduate work at Krasnoyarsk State University.

When not writing, Kapono teaches at public and private schools on the Big Island of Hawaii and pursues an interest in improving healthcare for the native Hawaiian community. This engagement with Hawaiian life and history shapes his work documenting Honolulu.

Clifford lives in Hawaii.
