About the author
COL. EDWARD L. FLEMING served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard for three decades as a helicopter rescue pilot. He is the author of Heart of the Storm: My Adventures as a Helicopter Rescue Pilot and Commander.
Fleming served as Commander of the 106th Operations Group, 4412th Squadron, in the Persian Gulf and Vice Commander of the 109th Airlift Wing. His memoir received advance praise from John Glenn and Dr. Jerri Nielsen.
When not writing, Fleming draws on a career leading scores of high-risk rescue missions, including operations during the Halloween storm of 1991 depicted in The Perfect Storm and the rescue of Dr. Jerri Nielsen from Antarctica. These missions form the core of his memoir.
