About the author
DAISY MAE PASS KING was a cookbook author, restaurateur, food consultant, and home economist who authored 14 cookbooks with combined sales exceeding 1.5 million copies. Her books include Miss Daisy’s Healthy Southern Cooking and Recipes from Miss Daisy’s 25th Anniversary Edition.
King studied home economics and journalism at Belmont College in Nashville. In 1974 she opened Miss Daisy’s Tearoom in Franklin, Tennessee, and her 1978 debut cookbook, Recipes from Miss Daisy’s, sold over one million copies.
When she was not writing, King worked as a food consultant and ran her tearoom in Franklin, Tennessee. Her cookbooks drew directly on her professional experience in the restaurant and home economics fields.
