Darlene Powell Hopson

DARLENE POWELL HOPSON is a licensed clinical psychologist, certified school psychologist, and co-author of five books, including Team-Spirited Parenting: 8 Essential Principles for Parenting Success, The Power of Soul: Pathways to Psychological and Spiritual Growth for African Americans, and Raising the Rainbow Generation.

Hopson holds a Ph.D. and, together with Derek S. Hopson, Ph.D., headed the Hopson Center for Psychological and Educational Services in Connecticut. Her co-authored title Different and Wonderful: Raising Black Children in a Race-Conscious Society was a bestseller.

When not writing, Hopson has served as a consultant to Disney Online and Mattel Toys and sat on the Advisory Board of Child magazine. This professional engagement with child development and family life runs throughout her published work.
