DEBORAH R. LILLY is a professional hairstylist with fifteen years of experience and the author of Wavy, Curly, Kinky: The African American Child’s Hair Care Guide and Beauty and the Bucks.

Lilly’s work has appeared in Ebony, Essence, Hype Hair, Black Elegance, and Sophisticate’s Black Hair. She has worked as both an instructor and a hairstylist for theater, film, and advertising.

When she’s not writing, Lilly continues her work as a professional hairstylist, drawing on extensive experience across performance, film, and commercial media. Her hair care guide reflects that hands-on expertise applied directly to the needs of African American families.
