About the author
EUGENE AUBREY STRATTON was a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists and served as Historian General of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. His books include Applied Genealogy and Plymouth Colony: Its History & People, 1620–1691.
Stratton was elected to the American Society of Genealogists in 1985 and was elected Historian General of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in September 1981. He held a B.A. in Economics from George Washington University and served in the United States Air Force before working as a Case Officer for the CIA and later as Director of two Federal Computer Centers.
Stratton lived abroad for eleven years in England, Germany, Greece, and Mexico, experience that informed his work as a historian and genealogist. He was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and died on October 14, 2009.
