James M. Giffin

JAMES M. GIFFIN is a medical doctor whose veterinary reference books include Horse Owner’s Veterinary Handbook, Cat Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook and Dog Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook.

Giffin received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in 1961, having previously graduated from Amherst College.

When not writing, Giffin has been active in breeding, showing, and judging Great Pyrenees dogs, establishing a kennel in 1969, finishing several champions, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Great Pyrenees Club of America. That deep hands-on experience with the breed informs his co-authored works, including The Complete Great Pyrenees and Veterinary Guide to Horse Breeding.
