James Mahoney

JAMES MAHONEY is a veterinarian with nearly forty-five years of professional experience. His recent books include From Elephants to Mice: Animals Who Have Touched My Soul and Saving Molly: A Research Veterinarian’s Choices.

Mahoney served as a research professor at the New York University School of Medicine, where he spent the majority of his career working with chimpanzees and other primates in biomedical research.

When he’s not writing, Mahoney continues to engage with questions about animals' rights and the needs of humankind, having traveled the world to treat a wide variety of animals. That breadth of experience across species and continents shapes the ethical concerns at the heart of his work.
