Jane E. Vennard

JANE E. VENNARD is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, spiritual director, retreat leader, and teacher with six books on prayer and spiritual practice. Her books include Fully Awake and Truly Alive: Spiritual Practices to Nurture Your Soul and Teaching—The Sacred Art: The Joy of Opening Minds & Hearts.

Fully Awake and Truly Alive was named a Best Spiritual Book of the Year by Spirituality & Practice. Vennard holds a BA from Wellesley College, an MA from Stanford University, and an MDiv from San Francisco Theological Seminary, and served as senior adjunct professor at Iliff School of Theology in Denver.

When she’s not writing, Vennard leads retreats and lectures in ecumenical settings across the United States, Canada, and Australia, and is a long-time active member of Spiritual Directors International. Her work centers on prayer and spiritual practice in private direction as well as public teaching.
