Janet Barrett

JANET BARRETT is a writer with nearly 25 years of experience riding, owning, and caring for horses. Her recent books include Comanche and His Captain: The Warhorse and the Soldier of Fortune, They Called Her Reckless: A True Story of War, Love and One Extraordinary Horse and On the Fence: A Parent’s Handbook of Horseback Riding.

Barrett’s articles have appeared in Thoroughbred Times and Countdown, and her work spans health, sports, and education for specialty publications, television, radio, and public relations.

When she’s not writing, Barrett draws on her equestrian background directly: she previously operated Horses for Courses, a company that booked horses for print and television advertisements. That hands-on connection to the horse world runs throughout her books.

Janet Barrett’s books are published by Howell Book House, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
