About the author
JIM HIGHTOWER is a New York Times bestselling author and syndicated columnist who has written seven books. His recent books include Thieves in High Places, If the Gods Had Meant Us to Vote They Would Have Given Us Candidates, and There’s Nothing in the Middle of the Road But Yellow Stripes and Dead Armadillos.
Hightower’s monthly newsletter, The Hightower Lowdown, has received both the Alternative Press Award and the Independent Press Association Award for best national newsletter. His newspaper column is distributed nationally by Creators Syndicate.
When he’s not writing, Hightower serves as a national radio commentator and public speaker, and previously served twice as the elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner from 1983 to 1991. That experience as a progressive political activist shapes the populist concerns running through his work.
Jim lives in Austin, Texas.
