About the author

JOB MICHAEL EVANS was a professional dog trainer and past president of the Dog Writers Association of America who authored numerous dog training books, including Training and Explaining: How to Be the Dog Trainer You Want to Be, Evans Guide for Civilized City Canines, and The Evans Guide for Counseling Dog Owners.

Evans also contributed to the Monks of New Skete’s How to Be Your Dog’s Best Friend, and his books were published by Howell Book House.

Before leaving monastic life in 1983, Evans lived at the New Skete Monastery in Cambridge, New York, under the name Brother Job. That grounding in the community informed a body of work centered on the relationship between dogs and their owners.
