About the author
KAREN L. ROSENTHAL, DVM, MS, is a veterinarian specializing in exotic animal medicine and the author or co-author of five books on exotic animal medicine.
Rosenthal is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, a founding member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, and a past president of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. In 2010, she was named Exotic DVM of the Year by Exotic DVM Veterinary Magazine, and in 2012, Oxbow Exotic Animal Practitioner of the Year.
When she’s not writing, Rosenthal draws on more than three decades of clinical and academic experience, including founding the Special Species Service at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and serving as Professor of Exotic Animal Medicine and Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew’s University from 2012 to 2018.
