KATHARINA DALTON was a British physician and gynaecologist who co-authored the first medical paper on premenstrual syndrome in the British Medical Journal in 1953 and coined the term "premenstrual syndrome." Her books include Once a Month, Depression After Childbirth and The Premenstrual Syndrome and Progesterone Therapy.
Dalton established the world’s first PMS clinic at University College Hospital, London, and hypothesised that PMS resulted from a deficiency in the hormone progesterone, advocating for hormone replacement therapy.
Dalton was born in London on 11 November 1916 and died on 17 September 2004.
Katharina Dalton’s books are published by Hunter House, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
