Kristin E. Carmichael

KRISTIN E. CARMICHAEL, LISW, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and domestic violence specialist in New Mexico, and the author of X That Ex: Making a Clean Break When the Relationship Is Over, her debut work.

Carmichael holds master’s degrees in social work and business administration. She has served as Domestic Violence Specialist at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and previously as residential shelter manager at Esperanza Shelter for Battered Families, counseling more than a thousand domestic violence survivors and developing medical-advocacy programs.

When she’s not writing, Carmichael trains professionals on domestic violence issues, a practice she has maintained since 2001, and has presented original research at statewide and national conferences. Her work draws directly on her years of clinical and advocacy experience.
