Mahdi Obeidi

MAHDI OBEIDI is a nuclear scientist and co-author of the bestselling book The Bomb in My Garden: The Secrets of Saddam’s Nuclear Mastermind.

Obeidi holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Swansea in Wales. He served as Director General of Iraq’s Ministry of Military Industrialization under Saddam Hussein, leading the country’s uranium centrifuge enrichment program.

When not writing, Obeidi lectures at universities, government agencies, and laboratories on nuclear nonproliferation. That work draws directly on his experience turning over buried centrifuge plans and components to U.S. intelligence following the fall of Baghdad in 2003.

Mahdi lives in the United States.

Mahdi Obeidi’s books are published by Trade Paper Press, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
