Margaret Cropper

MARGARET CROPPER was a Westmorland poet, author, hymnist, and playwright who authored many volumes of poetry, plays, and prayers. Her books include The Life of Evelyn Underhill, Flame Touches Flame and collections of hymns.

Cropper was born into a long-established Quaker family in Burneside, near Kendal, where she lived for the majority of her life. She was associated with many movements for the revival of religious drama.

When not writing, Cropper maintained a close friendship with Evelyn Underhill over many years. That relationship found lasting expression in her biography of Underhill, reissued by SkyLight Paths Publishing in 2002.

Margaret Cropper lived from 1886 to 1980.

Margaret Cropper’s books are published by SkyLight Paths, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
