About the author
MARY R. BURCH, Ph.D., is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, and the author of more than ten books, including How Dogs Learn, Volunteering with Your Pet, and The Border Collie.
Burch won the Maxwell Medallion from the Dog Writers' Association of America. Her behavioral research has been published by the U.S. Department of Education, and her work as an internationally recognized expert on therapy dogs has been featured in U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, and Reader’s Digest.
When she’s not writing, Burch serves as director of the AKC Canine Good Citizen program and is a founding member of the Animal Trainer’s Forum in the Association for Behavior Analysis. This deep engagement with applied animal behavior and training informs all of her books.
Mary lives in Tallahassee, Florida.
