Max Adams

MAX ADAMS is a British archaeologist, historian, and broadcaster who has written more than a dozen books on Early Medieval history and archaeology, trees, and woodlands. His recent books include The First Kingdom, In the Land of Giants and The King in the North.

Adams is a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellow and served as Director of Archaeological Services at Durham University. He was a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Newcastle from 2010 to 2013.

When he’s not writing, Adams conducts archaeological fieldwork, including excavations such as those at Christchurch Spitalfields. This grounding in primary research and fieldwork shapes his writing across history, archaeology, and the landscape.

Max lives in the North East of England, where he has been based since 1993.

Max Adams’s books are published by Trade Paper Press, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
