Meryl Hyman

MERYL HYMAN is a reporter and editor who spent most of her career at Gannett Newspapers. She is the author of Who Is A Jew?: Conversations, Not Conclusions.

For the book, Hyman traveled to Israel, England, and the United States, interviewing more than 35 religious leaders, scholars, and public figures representing the full range of Jewish traditions, as well as voices from outside the Jewish community. She draws on her own experience as a Reform Jew of patrilineal descent — the daughter of a Jewish father and a Christian mother — to explore questions of Jewish identity.

Meryl Hyman’s books are published by Jewish Lights, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
