Michael Rose

MICHAEL ROSE is a former executive director of the Atlanta History Center and the author of more than six books on Atlanta’s visual history. His recent books include Lost Atlanta, Remembering Atlanta and Historic Photos of Atlanta.

Rose previously served as Director of Archives and Research Services at the Atlanta History Center’s James G. Kenan Research Center before rising to executive director. His work in the museum, gallery, and archival fields has shaped a body of writing drawn from Atlanta’s photographic archives.

A native of southern Indiana, Rose has lived and worked in Atlanta for more than twenty years. That long immersion in the city’s institutions and collections runs through all of his books on Atlanta’s visual and Civil War history.

Michael Rose’s books are published by Turner Publishing.
