Michael Samuels

MICHAEL SAMUELS, M.D., is a family medicine physician and the author of more than twenty books, including Spirit Body Healing, Creative Healing, and Seeing With the Mind’s Eye.

Samuels received the Nautilus Book Award in 2014 for Healing With the Arts. He graduated from New York University School of Medicine in 1967 and has specialized in using creativity, art, and guided imagery with patients facing life-threatening illness and life crises.

When he’s not writing, Samuels serves as founder and director of Art As a Healing Force, a project started in 1990 devoted to integrating art and healing, and teaches at San Francisco State University, the Institute of Holistic Studies, and John F. Kennedy University. This work with art and healing runs throughout his books.

Michael lives in Bolinas, California.
