Many people get dogs as companions for their children, but the children are often entirely left out of the training process. Allowing the children to participate will not only help them learn responsibility, but will help them to understand and be close to their dogs. Simple training exercises that can easily be done by children and their parents help children to feel included in all the excitement that comes with having a new dog. Author Michael Tucker knows just the right way to talk to children: his tone is always kind, never patronizing. Parents, children and certainly dogs will find his sensible, patient approach to training irresistible. Michael Tucker is an internationally renowned dog trainer and the author of Dog Training Made Easy.

About the author

MICHAEL TUCKER has spent more than sixty years working in dog training and is the author of Dog Training Made Easy and Solving Your Dog Problems.

Tucker began his career as an instructor at the Royal Air Force Police Dog Training Centre during his National Service, then joined the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association as a teacher in 1956. In 1967 he moved with his family to Australia to work with the Royal Guide Dogs of Australia, and eight years later established his own dog training school in Melbourne.

When he’s not writing, Tucker continues his work in professional dog training, a practice he first took up at the age of sixteen. His books draw directly on decades of hands-on experience across obedience training, guide dog work and private instruction.
