PETER SILVERMAN is a Canadian art collector and connoisseur who purchased a small portrait at a New York gallery in 2007 for $19,000 and subsequently authenticated it as a previously unknown work by Leonardo da Vinci. He is the author of Leonardo’s Lost Princess: One Man’s Quest to Authenticate an Unknown Portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci, co-written with Catherine Whitney.
Among Silverman’s other significant discoveries are three miscatalogued works by Van Dyck and a wooden cross attributed to Michelangelo. The book was translated into French and Italian and adapted into the documentary film Mystery of a Masterpiece.
Peter lives in France.
Peter Silverman’s books are published by Trade Paper Press, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
