Rev. Martha Spong

REV. MARTHA SPONG is a United Church of Christ pastor, writer, and clergy leadership coach who co-founded RevGalBlogPals in 2005. Her recent books include The Words of Her Mouth: Psalms for the Struggle, Denial is My Spiritual Practice (and Other Failures of Faith) and There’s a Woman in the Pulpit.

Spong received her M.Div. from Andover Newton Theological School in 2002 and served as Executive Director of RevGalBlogPals from 2013 to 2020, an ecumenical social media ministry supporting clergywomen.

When she’s not writing, Spong serves congregations as both a settled and intentional interim pastor in Maine and Pennsylvania. This grounding in parish life informs her work as an editor and co-author exploring faith and clergy experience.

Martha lives in South Central Pennsylvania.
