RIGAS RIGOPOULOS was a Greek social scientist, resistance fighter, and the author of Secret War: Greece–Middle East, 1940–1945.
Rigopoulos received the Award of the Academy of Athens for his wartime memoir. He graduated from the Athens University of Economics and Business Sciences and pursued postgraduate studies at the Sorbonne in Paris and the London School of Economics.
When not writing, Rigopoulos led the Hellenic Patriotic Society—an independent resistance organization known as Service 5-16-5—conducting covert operations in Athens and Piraeus during the Axis occupation of Greece. He later served as Prefect of Ioannina during the Greek civil war and worked in journalism, radio, financial advising, and advertising. These experiences shaped his two sociology books and his wartime memoir.
Rigas Rigopoulos’s books are published by Turner Publishing.
