About the author
SIGOURNEY CHEEK was a Nashville philanthropist, community leader, and author who graduated from Manhattanville College in 1967 and later studied at the graduate level at Vanderbilt University. She was the author of Between Flights: Persevering with Optimism Through Life’s Traumas and Patient Siggy: Hope and Healing in Cyberspace.
Cheek served as Chair of the Board and President of Cheekwood, co-founded the Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville, and held leadership roles at Magdalene House, the YWCA, Belmont University, and Vanderbilt’s Kennedy Center.
When not writing, Cheek was active in Nashville’s fine arts and nonprofit community. Her memoir Patient Siggy chronicled her five-year battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
