Ford became a dog owner at the age of twelve, and that experience shaped a lifelong love of dogs.

When he’s not writing, Ford draws on the lessons his first dog taught him about responsibility, decision-making, and coping with loss. Those experiences are central to his exploration of the bond between dogs and their owners.
