WAYNE TEASDALE was an American Catholic lay monk who coined the term "interspirituality" to describe his approach to interfaith dialogue, combining the traditions of Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism in the way of Christian sannyasa. His books include The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World’s Religions, A Monk in the World, and Bede Griffiths: An Introduction to His Interspiritual Thought.
Teasdale held an M.A. in philosophy from St. Joseph College and a Ph.D. in theology from Fordham University. He served as an adjunct professor at DePaul University, Columbia College, and the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, and sat on the board of trustees of the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
As a member of the Monastic Interreligious Dialogue, Teasdale helped draft their Universal Declaration on Nonviolence.
Wayne Teasdale’s books are published by SkyLight Paths, an imprint of Turner Publishing.
