About the author
WINIFRED "WYNN" GIBSON STRICKLAND earned 215 obedience titles over her lifetime and owned Wynthea Kennels, which produced 24 breed champions and 8 obedience trial champions. Her books include The German Shepherd Today, Obedience Class Instruction for Dogs: The Trainer’s Manual and Expert Obedience Training for Dogs.
Strickland served as an AKC Obedience judge for 18 years, was a director of the GSDCA, and held membership in the SV.USA and WDA.
When not writing, Strickland was an instrument-qualified pilot who flew across the country to compete in obedience trials and conduct training clinics. Her work as a breeder and trainer informed a body of writing centered on German Shepherds and competitive obedience.
