About the author
DAVID J. MATHEWS, MA, LICSW, is a counselor with the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation Community Assistance Program in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a therapist with the Judson Family Center in Minneapolis. He is the author of Foundations for Violence-Free Living: A Step-By-Step Guide to Facilitating Men’s Domestic Abuse Groups and its companion workbook On the Level: Foundations for Violence-Free Living.
Mathews holds a master’s degree and licensure as an independent clinical social worker. At the time of publication, he was a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
When not writing, Mathews consults with and trains local, state, and national organizations on violence intervention and prevention in communities and schools in the St. Paul metropolitan area. His work directly informs his writing on domestic abuse and men’s parenting groups.
