About the author
HARRY SPILLER is the author of more than a dozen books, including oral histories on World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, as well as the Murder in the Heartland series.
Spiller holds a BS in Criminal Justice, a BA in Political Science, and an MPA from Southern Illinois University. He served as Sheriff of Williamson County from 1982 to 1989 and retired in 2008 as an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at John A. That firsthand experience with conflict and law enforcement runs through his histories and crime writing alike.
