About the author
MARSHALL GRANT played bass guitar for Johnny Cash and served as both road manager and stage manager for Cash from the beginning of that association until 1980. He subsequently managed the Statler Brothers through their retirement in 2004 and continues to manage the solo career of Statler Brother Jimmy Fortune.
Grant holds no listed awards, but his career spans decades at the center of country music, working alongside two of the genre’s most enduring acts.
When he’s not writing, Grant remains active in artist management, a profession he has practiced continuously since leaving Cash’s organization.
Marshall lives in Hernando, Mississippi, with his wife, Etta.
