LifeLights™—help for wholeness & healing—is a high-quality, uniquely Jewish pastoral care resource.

LifeLights™ are inspirational, informational booklets about challenges to our emotional and spiritual lives and how to deal with them. Each of the LifeLight topics is written by a wise and caring soul—someone you probably know or know about—who knows the inner territory of grief, doubt, confusion, and longing.

Each LifeLight contains uniquely Jewish comfort, advice, and additional resources for help. In addition to providing wise words to light a difficult path, every booklet offers suggestions for further reading, and many list organizations—Jewish and secular—that can provide further help along with information on how to contact them.

Over 1,000 congregations, organizations, care facilities, and funeral homes bring LifeLights™ to people in need. We have received touching, powerful feedback both from those who have made LifeLights available, and from people who have used them. LifeLights are having a dramatic effect on people facing difficult times—providing comfort and even saving lives.

About the author

RABBI NINA BETH CARDIN is a rabbi, author, and environmental activist ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1988, among the first women ordained as rabbis in Conservative Judaism. Her books include Tears of Sorrow, Seeds of Hope: A Jewish Spiritual Companion for Infertility and Pregnancy Loss, The Tapestry of Jewish Time: A Spiritual Guide to Holidays and Lifecycle Events, and Mourning a Miscarriage.

Following ordination, Cardin held positions at the Jewish Theological Seminary as Assistant to the Vice Chancellor and Visiting Lecturer in Theology, and served as founding associate director of the National Center for Jewish Healing in 1994.

When she’s not writing, Cardin founded the Jewish Women’s Resource Center, the Baltimore Jewish Environmental Network, and the Baltimore Orchard Project. These community efforts inform her writing on Jewish spiritual life and practice.

Nina lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
